Area Location

Follow US 17 to Georgetown and turn right onto South Santee Road. Right turn after 2.6 miles to the dirt road entrance.

Hours of Operation: open daily 1:00 – 5:00 in February. Monday through Saturday 8:00 – 5:00, and Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 March through October. The reserve is closed from the beginning of November through the end of January.

American White Pelican, Anhinga, White Ibis, Glossy Ibis, Wood Stork, Mottled Duck, Red-shouldered Hawk, Black Rail, King Rail, Barn Owl, Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Brown-headed Nuthatch, Bachman’s Sparrow, Seaside Sparrow.

Summer

Least Bittern, Swallow-tailed Kite, Mississippi Kite, Yellow-throated Vireo, Prothonotary Warbler, Hooded Warbler, Summer Tanager, Blue Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, Painted Bunting, Orchard Oriole.

Winter

American Black Duck, Gadwall, American Wigeon, Canvasback, Redhead, Hooded Merganser, Bald Eagle, Merlin, Peregrine Falcon, Sora, Nelson’s Sparrow, Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow, Rusty Blackbird.
