Starting in Conway, take Highway 90 east towards Nixonville. After approximately 6.8 miles turn right onto International Blvd. Follow the road until you reach the Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve (approximately 1.5 miles).

Background

There are 23 bays located within the preserve which covers roughly 9,400 acres of mostly pine forest. Bays have a tendency to dry out in the summer making it harder to locate. You’ll find December through May are the best times to bird.

Resident

Northern Bob-white, Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Brown-headed Nuthatch, Pine Warbler.

Summer

Prairie Warbler, Yellow-breasted Chat, Summer Tanager, Bachman’s Sparrow, Blue Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting.

Winter

Grasshopper, Henslow’s Sparrow, LeConte’s Sparrow.
