Drive north on Highway 24 from exit 11 on I85 for approximately 1.6 miles, turn left onto Fred Dobbins Road. Continue 1.7 miles to McAdams Road and turn left, follow McAdams Road to Gaines Road, turn right for .4 miles. Travel .4 miles to Fork School Road, just past the stop sign is a good place to park.

Background

Easy access to the lake and birding from three boat ramps off Highway 24 (near Townville). Look for Camp Creek Access, Coneross Access and Townville Recreation Area. The best birding time here is between November and March.

Yellow-crowned Night-heron, Black Rail, Cliff Swallow, Yellow Warbler, Field Sparrow, Grasshopper Sparrow, Dickcissel.

Common Loon, Horned Grebe, American Bittern, Greater White-fronted Goose, Sandhill Crane, Wilson’s Snipe, Bonapart’s Gull, Winter Wren, American Pipit, White-crowned Sparrow, Lincoln’s Sparrow, Vesper Sparrow, Lapland Longspur, Eastern Meadowlark, Brewer’s Blackbird.
