Area Location

Drive north on Highway 24 from exit 11 on I85 for approximately 1.6 miles, turn left onto Fred Dobbins Road. Continue 1.7 miles to McAdams Road and turn left, follow McAdams Road for approximately .5 miles, turn left on a dirt road.

Hours of Operation: hours vary as parts are closed between the beginning of November and the end of January to protect waterfowl.

Facilities

Background

Flooded agricultural fields in winter offer a good habitat for waterfowl, the best birding is between November and March.

Yellow-crowned Night-heron, Black Rail, Cliff Swallow, Yellow Warbler, Field Sparrow, Grasshopper Sparrow, Dickcissel.

Common Loon, Horned Grebe, American Bittern, Greater White-fronted Goose, Sandhill Crane, Wilson’s Snipe, Bonapart’s Gull, Winter Wren, American Pipit, White-crowned Sparrow, Lincoln’s Sparrow, Vesper Sparrow, Lapland Longspur, Eastern Meadowlark, Brewer’s Blackbird.
