Follow U.S. 17 south from Rantowles. Turn right into the park after approximately 2.5 miles.

Admission: $1 for adults, free for 2 and under. Guided walks offered for $5/person each Wednesday and Saturday morning.

Hours of Operation: 9:00 – 3:00 on Wednesday through Friday, 9:00 – 5:00 on weekends. The park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.


There is a butterfly garden behind the center. Pick up a bird checklist and map.


8 miles of hiking trails leading through swamps, forests and rice fields where birding is excellent  year-round. Stop in at the Caw Caw Interpretive Center to pick up a bird checklist and a map of the park. There is a butterfly garden and bird feeders located behind the center. Other highlights of the park include Rice Field Overlook Boardwalk, Waterfowl Trail and Swamp Sanctuary Trail.

Anhinga, Black-crowned Night-heron, Little Blue Heron, Tricolored Heron, White Ibis, Wood Stork, Red-shouldered Hawk, King Rail, Barred Owl. Pileated Woodpecker, White-eyed Vireo, Least Bittern, Swallow-tailed Kite, Painted Bunting.


Yellow-crowned Night-heron, Least Bittern, Swallow-tailed Kite, Mississippi Kite, Yellow-throated Vireo, Acadian Flycatcher, Prothonotary Warbler, Blue Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, Painted Bunting.


American Bittern, Hooded Merganser, Bald Eagle, Merlin, Virginia Rail, Sora, Sedge Wren, Black-and-white Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Orange-crowned Warbler, Fox Sparrow, Rusty Blackbird, Purple Finch.
